View Full Version : Shuttle Sv24 - How to make it silent?
Ive just pucharsed the excellent Shuttle SV24 mini-pc cube.
The problem is that it is quiet noisey, for such a small system. Ive replaced the cpu fan with a silent one, but the majority of the noise seems to be coming from the psu fan.
Does anyone know of a silent version of the PSU fan, as this system uses a non-standard (small) PSU?
Cheers

Hey Jay,
We've just done a "quiet" mod on one, it's not silent, but it means not changing the psu fan, hence not voiding the warranty.
it'll be posted soon.
Cool,
Look forward to seeing it!
Im about to change the top extractor fan with a replacement 'silent' one [Thanks Graeme for replacing the faulty one!] - so hopfully that should cut down on more of the noise level.
Im also using a 80gb Maxtor HD - which is VERY quiet - hardly notice its switched on, even when doing heavy disk access. :D
If you can make these little babies quiet I'll be certain to buy one. I need a cute ickle quiet PC that i can leave running 24x7 on the end of my DSL which terminates in my bedroom :( my games PC is too loud to keep on over night and my laptop isn't designed to be on for weeks at a time so this would fit perfectly (with the added bonus of I could use it as a DVD player)

I'll finnish it over the weekend.

we're planning on launching our own reviews / articles section on the site - because we test the majority of the products that we sell, and conduct a lot of 'experiments' into new technology etc and we thought it would be cool if we just formatted our findings in an article format to give our customers more information. The 'Stealth PC' was one other similar project, our tiny little AMD / GeForce gaming system ...

Just another thought how about if you link to reviews that say other sites have done after buying you gear?
We currently offer this service to other sites we get sponsored by or deal with.
You may find it's just not possible to review everything all of the time. Plus you may want a second opinion.
Well be looking forward to seeing them and don't forget to post to us the news :D
