looks nice, shame the machine doesn't have a DDR board, I've definately seen one or two DDR MATX boards kicking around.
Then again, I presume that case has a fairly basic PSU so perhaps DDR would just draw too much power. Very stylish tho :)

Thorburn,
well we've had a g/f3 ti500 with an xp1700 in there, and 7200rpm ibm hd, cd-writer etc... so i don't think the ddr would be a problem. 8)
We'll try filling one of them up to the brim, sound card, ti500 xp etc and see how it does.

remember this? http://www.kustom.co.uk/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=8&t=000011
I think we've had this kettle stuff all before...
Talkin of kettles, heres a puzzler, no doubt thomas would be able to come up with something..
Molex adaptors onto normal devices.Instead of plug a molex adaptor, would be a stunning idea, esp for my palm pcs dockin bay... anyone know if its possable...
Plus you would be able to run a kettle.

Hello, (first post)
As the SFF AMD offerings from Shuttle are still a long ways off, I'm quite interested in the 'Stealth' system Kustom are offering.
The review at PC PowerZone was reasonably informative, but there's still some holes that I'd love to hear answers for...
The review states that the motherboard supplied is the ASUS A7V133-VM, but your site states that the Stealth system comes with an Epox 8KTM3. Which is correct? (If it's the Epox, I assume the 'powered by ASUS' sticker on the front is gone too?)
In this thread you mentioned adding DDR support... is there any progress with this?
The review also makes this statement which made me curious...
Kustom are still experimenting with the cooling setup, so there will probably be a shorter cooler in there before too long. The TaiSol does a good job but it is quite noisy, something Kustom are working hard to try and cut down on - fan noise!
There's also a mention that the case get can get quite warm, which worries me as I may be taking it to Australia where heat is more of an issue.
As there was a few open ended questions in the PC PowerZone review I'd love to see an update.. or at least hear some responses from Kustom as to whether or not problems have been resolved.
Has there been any changes or improvements to the system to reduce noise or heat?
Now that many hardware news sites are in a rash of SFF reviews after the shuttle SS51 release, it would be great to see some more reviews of your awesome range!
And on a side note, is Kustom any closer to releasing the 'more advanced version of the Kustom Builder' mentioned on your systems page?
I know I could always email you for a quote, but I'm one of those fussy customers who would like to mess around with many different dream configurations before hassling you out for more information.

What configuration are you looking for? Cos if an AGP slot is not essential to you then there IS an AMD Shuttle solution....
Shuttle SS40 (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/product.php?view=1039)
If you want a version with an AGP slot then yes, at present the Stealth system is the only way forward until the SN40 is released.

Yes, AGP is a must.
The SS51 is looking tempting, but to be honest I'm too much of an AMD fan to commit to Intel.. especially when you can't really upgrade the motherboard in those Shuttle boxes.
But if the Stealth system doesn't support DDR then I'll be throwing money away on even more SDRAM that won't be compatible with future motherboard upgrades.

How small does the system have to be?
You could always go down the route of putting together a matx system of your own based around a capable matx board like the Abit nV7m.
There'll be groans all round cos I've flogged this idea to death before but you'll end up with a truly personalised system to your own spec.
BTW, the PC42 case Graeme sourced for me is lush. Not sure how easily he can find another one.

Is that the same as PC 40? If so I must agree that is lish - never seen them in the UK, maybe your the only one

Hi there
Yes, the review is quite old and we have the revised the system a little. The Asus board has now been discontinued, but also now available - If you wish, we can use the Epox 8kMM DDR motherboard in this PC -
In terms of cooling , we've found the GlobalWin CBK58 CPU Cooler to do a fantastic job - as it is quieter and cools the cpu better than the previous Taisol.
I know this sounds incredibly cheeky, but I honestly haven't had a spare minute to update the Kustom Builder - I have to wear quite a few hats in the company, and don't get the time I would like to work on the web site... however, I'm always more than happy to give you a call sometime for a chat about the system spec, or will gladly answer as many emails as you can throw at me :)
We've taken on some new staff recently, who will soon start to relieve me of some of my roles - meaning I can spend more time working on the site. The systems section itself is not as updated as it should be either...

Lian-li PC42 looks like this:

Lian-li PC40 looks like this:

The PC40 sure is nice and it's ideal for Flex ATX boards. But I wanted a case which would allow me greater expandability (and modability?) so a MATX case it had to be.......and the PC42 was the nicest tiny-teeny-tower I could see for that form factor.

Ok DDR is not a problem, i am running a YY-A102 (the case used for the stealth system) with an AOpen MK77 ddr motherboard, which is pretty much the best motherboard i could find and i managed to grab it for £65 (DDR up to 2 gig, onboard lan, sound (not in use), 266bus, 20+ multiplyer, ATA100, AGP 4x)
it's currently got a duron 1.2gig, a GeForce 4 MX 440, Audigy, CD writer, Zip, and 2 hard disks (don't ask) in there, and it's running sweet. I would however like to get a hold of one of the new globalwin coolers for this, as the taisol really is too loud, also any news on the fan-less PSU's, or is the new 200Watt psu in the newer revisions of the 102 quieter?

Wow, that sounds interesting.
So hard to find reviews for these Micro ATX motherboards.
Does Kustom offer this Aopen board at all Graeme?
I'm now torn between an AMD DDR Stealth or waiting for the Shuttle SS51 .. whenever that arrives.

we use the Epox 8KMM which is similar . In stock, and £98 inc VAT

Silent one looks nice chaps.
How silent is it? Mine is pretty good, just a slight mumur from the hard-drive when it writes, and a very faint hum from the zalman cooler the seagate motor runnning! But to be honest, thats quiet reassuring, lets you know its all still running! :)
During the day you can't hear a thing. But late at night, you can hear it a little, but its massively improved!
Think powersnoose would eliminate that altogether, but for the amount of diffenence it will make, I am not sure its worth the money!
Mine cost around £700 for the actual base unit, and the other bits got it up near your price, so you're doing a great price!

the new 102s we have now are noticably quieter - they are now shipped with temperature controlled psu, which drops noise significantly
are those psu's better than the quietpc ones?
Are you selling them?
Graeme*Kustom*

they're microatx, and the quietpc models are 'normal' atx.
Not as quiet as the QuietPC models really, but not too bad
If anyone is interested in a m-ATX board have a look at this one from Biostar (http://www.biostar.com.tw/products/mainboard/socket_a/m7ncd/index.php3).
It a nForce 2 based board with the following spec.
Nvidia SPP Northbridge & MCP-T Southbridge
3xDDR400
3xPCI
1xAGP8
1xCNR
1xParallel
2xSerial
2xPS/2
2xRear USB2
1xGame Port
1xSpeaker Out
1xLine In
1xMic In
1xFloppy
2xUDMA133 (= Total of 4 Devices)
Support for 333FSB Athlons.
Hope this helps!!!
Fuzz.
Sorry to show my thickness but...........What is the purpose of the Nvidia chipset on this board?....I assumed that it was an integrated graphics solution.....ie,no need for an add on graphics card.......have I misunderstood?....nothing new there then!
Read these reviews for more info on the nForce2 chipset.

Hope this helps you.
Having just but a system for a friend with the same case from kustom the psu fan is very quiet as psu fans go :)
the only noisy thing is the cpu fan but I went for a cheap coolermaster hsf as it was what I had lying around .
