Is the ss40 you've just got in the one with the funky heatpipe bit, or the older one, without ?

the heat pipe it is !

I've been messing about with an SS40 this morning - fantastic bit of kit, and the fan can be set to speed up / slow down at a certain cpu temp - fantastic , the first shuttle that is reasonably quiet out the box !

If you get hold of one of the gf4mx pci cards it should be ok , but won't be ground breaking. I am waiting for the agp version which is on its way apparantly :)

Re: the use of PCI graphics cards ...
... I have found the perfect example for use in the SS-40G, a PNY GeForce4mx420, looks cool ... BUT it mentions a requirement for a 300W power supply which I understand seriously exceeds what comes with a SS-40G ... all we need now is a 300W 'Silent' 1U Power supply ... Hmmm ... but you might want to give it a go ... maybe try one out and stock them if they work?
