Graeme,

Out of the Pioneer Slot loader and the Shuttle silver DVD drives that you've got on the site, which would you say has the quietest operation.

I'm talking about standard noise when viewing a DVD rather than maximum noise when reading a CD-Rom.

Just as an aside ... I believe this (http://www.exhardware.com/reviews.php?Id=94&Page=1)review discusses the Silver Slot loading Pioneer on this site.

Thanks, I bought the drive from Kustom a while back anyway.

It IS slightly noisier than the other silver DVD drive but I downloaded a utility from the Pioneer site which allows a "Silent" mode for watching movies.

Works great! Can't hear a thing. :D

we have this utility too - if anyone wants it , after ordering a drive - send their invoice number to tech@kustom.co.uk and we'll send the Pioneer utility (and a region free bios if needed too)

I suspect that I'll be ordering that amongst a few other bits and pieces in about a fortnight so I'll bear that in mind.

Anyone know where I can find that Pioneer thyng? I trawled the website for ages trying to find the drive speed limiter but just found a load of weird utilities...

I hav eone of the tray loading Pioneer 116's, but IIRC this app works on all Pioneer DVD drives, right?

kinda off the subject but how well do the silver drives match the aluminium in a lian-li case? i'm guessing pretty well but just thought i'd ask...

it's not exact (getting plastic to look like metal is never easy) but look a whole world better than white drives.. !

anyone tried a silver drive + one of the lian-li stick-on aluminium front plates for a better match? can't decide whether to go for almost-matching silver or black which i think might not look so good...

Does the pioneer 116 tray DVD player unlocker from Kustoms have a region free firmware for v1.22?
