we could have done with a few more people, but I think it`s good that everyone who went (as far as we know) enjoyed it - we`ll look at the idea of doing it again, but to cover costs we really need more visitors. We`ll be looking at a scheme where visitors to this LAN can have a discount on the next one if it happens, and introducing a friend along with you will earn further discount... we`ll see how tomorrow goes, i think it might be busier

Hello Graeme, Thomas, Kevin, and everyone I met on Saturday !!!
It was GREAT fun I only wish I could've made it today, but was working then spending the day with my wife 'cause its her 40th birthday !!!
I'm glad I got my Juno P6 rebuilt on Friday night, I hope you all had a good laugh at my cable management and "desktop toolkit".
I popped in today for 5 mins to pick up the 2 "kettle leads" that I'd left, and I think there were a couple more PC's working than Sat.
To all the lads at Kustom and Strike events, keep up the good work, I'm sure next time we'll see more folk....I shall spead the word.
Cheers
David Westwood aka Dai-Bach
PS Thomas, that 1 on 1 at the end was fairly equal I just wish we had time to finish it off!!! Even though you got me once with the gauntlet......

Hi David,
Yeah it was pretty fun. I kinna thought you hadn't enjoyed the day cos there wasn't many people playing Quake3.
I think for next time we won't hold three seperate competitions, all that running around trying to find out who had what was a bit much.

Hey all..i think at the next lan we should have a games rota..so maybe 1 hour a game and if u dont have one you get it or you sit out for that hour...what u think?

Kev

P.s any idea if there will be another 1?

are u aloud to share files at the LAN?

I guess I'll have to purchase/learn other games !!! Half Life seemed to be popular, and on Sunday I saw a couple of people playing a Rally game. Does anyone play any flying shoot-em-ups? Falcon, Airwarrior or similar?
I enjoyed the Lan@yr very much, I have not had such a computer laugh since playing DOOM on the network at work some years ago. I was a little dissapointed that Q3 was not played so much, but then thats my fault for not having anything else!!!!
I can't wait for the next one
cheers

File sharing: Paul disabled network neighbourhood, but we found another way to share files. Graeme wasn't bothered, I had access to his files n' all. Rally: The rally game was Colin McRae 2 which can be installed legally as a network version using a cd and passing it around which we did :-).

Ross,
Don't worry m8, there was nothing against sharing files, the idea of disabling network neibourhood is it lowers the risk of script hacking etc... if you shared files it was ok, cos the person wanting to get at it had to know exactly what to look for, if NN was enabled then people could see what dirs were open and get into them without concent.
also, file sharing causes gameplay to slow down on a network. :(
k? :)

Yeah sharing was done when like 90% of game play was not going on,etc :-).
