now that the stability issue is sorted out, one of our demo systems is reaching 11997 on a P4 2.0 for default benchmark.

No overclocking, but it's a Via P4PB Motherboard with PC2700 OCZ RAM, running WinXP.

I'm going to try and tweak things a little and see what I can get out of it later today

:) I tried a little overclock on the cpu, but the machine wasn't having it. that system is designed to be silent, so it's pretty warm in there !

driver update got it to 12297, only way of up from that is either gonna be faster cpu or overclocking. Might go for the former :)

The 2.0A P4 doesn't like overclocking. Best I could ever get was 2.2GHz

It's a machine that was put on to demo on saturday

Via P4Pb mobo
P4 2.0a Northwood
512mb PC2700 RAM
Connect 3d OEM Card
Seagate B-IV HD
CM ATC-210-AX1
Samsung 152P TFT
Terratec 6Fire Sound

It had a ti4200 in there before and got about 10300 before with everything set at stock speed. Possibly going to swap it to a P4T board with RIMMs , as the via agp8x doesnt seem to agree with the radeon...

Apparently all you need is a bios update to fix the AGP 8x issues.

theres also an issue with the 9700 bios, which cant (i think) be updated outside teh factory

from what ive been reading, you cant flash the 9700 BIOS
which is why ATI are having to send out replacement cards to folk

seems that bios 1.0 and 1.1 are dodgy but 1.2 and 1.3 seem ok

you can get the number from the product number
just before the "-" should be the number 10, 11, 12 or 13 i think

just remember to take it a small step at a time, and if there's sign of noise , distortion or lock-ups, take the clock speed back down a bit...

yea I wouldnt want to bring it in asking for another 1

But i am trying to use powerstrip but im in the overclocking section but it says NA in the place where I change the Settings

And I cant seem to overclock my processor past about 2.15ghz

Anybody got any suggestion about boosting my score

I got 13545 http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4788124 with my P4 2.53 and Gigabyte Maya II 9700 PRO at defaults, in an ABIT TH7-II with 512Mb PC800 RDRAM.

just got my shuttle ss51 today.
spec is

P4 1.8A oc'd to 2.4A w/ 533fsb (133*18)
512mb PC2700 samsung
Gainward ti4200 @ 275/550

3Dmark2001SE - 11500

how's this for a shuttle?? opinions please

Im running the spec in my sig, and i can hardly push 5000 3d marks :(

Could it be due to the raid card being on, and will having only a GF2 lose me almost 5000 marks?

Nothing to do with the RAID card & yes using a GF2 will lose you major marks, due it not supporting the later features that 3DMark includes in the tests run (which will decrease the overall score by a major margin).
If the games play fine for you, then don't just upgrade because fo 3D mark as 3D Mark is a synthetic benchmark that bears little to no bearing on real term performance.

At 5000 you're getting about 800 more than me, I'm using a GF3 but only a P3 800 and 384MB PC133 ram, boy do I need a cpu upgrade :rolleyes: awhell, thank the lord for student loans, I see a nice P4 2.4GHz and some DDR ram on the horizon, wish Asus would hurry up and release an intel based dual ddr mobo though, I WANT NEW TOYS NOW!!!

Well I got 2xOCZ 512mb PC3200 RAM how much do you think ill be able to boost my score

ALSO I am wanting to get a 2.4Ghz Pn Northwood but how far would I overclock it

most of the guys that i have seen hitting the high end scores of 3dmark 2001se (like getting 20,000) use onlu 256mb ram?

they do say diminishing returns set in once u put another stick in? don't know from personal experience...

try it out.

btw, the 2.4A should overclock decent... my 1.8A clocks to 2.4

the 1.8A has stock FSB of 400 (100 quad pumped to 400), but i can get 532 (133 quad pumped to 532)...

forgotten most of the overclocking stats on the 2.4A, but u should get 2.8A ok, tweaking and some voltage mods should get u 3.0ghz+

The 2.4B will only clock to 2.7 and still successfully run 3D Mark - even then it will crash one time in three - with OCZ PC3200 and Abit IT7 Max2 (and a Radeon 8500) can only get 10,000 with that set-up.

any difference on the 2.4A??

i assume the P4 1.6A is still THE ONE for overclocking greatness??
