Everybody knows that the Ti4200 has the best price/performance ratio in the gf4 range, so it must be the most popular card at the moment wright?
When overclocked it can perform the same as a Ti4600 and at less than half the price you cant go wrong.
So i bought one about a week ago and i got 9320 3D Marks at the standard settings and 9905 overclocked.
I just want to compare to everybody elses 3D Marks so post all your marks up now :D

I get 10049 marks with Gainward Ti4200 running at stock speed on Asus P4T-E, but with 1.6 cpu OC'ed to 2149
Drivers are beta 30.20
Should really try clocking the graphics card for more speed, but I honeslty can't be bothered - it's quick enough and didn't cost much :)

maybe i'll have to try the 30:20 beta drivers then
i got 10337 with the card not overclocked (128MB Asus GF4 TI4200) using 29.42
with my Pentium 4 2.26GHz on an Abit BD7-II with 512MB PC2700

You guys have got better marks than me because your components are better.
My system specks:
AMD XP1700+
256MB PC2100 DDR
ABIT KR7A133 Raid
Leadtek WinFast A250LE TD VIVO (64MB Geforce4 Ti4200)
all at stock speeds, but i'll overclock it till i smell burning and then post the results up.

i'm so not used to all these driver updates
used to have an ATI card
didnt realise that 30.82 were available
off to downlaod now
I've got about 9850ish out of this system so far:
1800+ (stock speed)
K7S5A motherboard (crap, but cheap)
Leadtek 4200 (clocked at 315/617 from 250/500)
512mb PC2100 DDR ram.
29.42 drivers
Win2k

I've overclocked the cpu from 1470mhz (xp1700) to 1645mhz (close to xp2000) and the card from 250/513 to 290/600. And I got 10679 3d marks, beat the ti4600 by 256 3d marks not bad for a £126 card.
Im a newb so no flamin- getting new pc in 4 days :)

YES... no matter the case and mobo (sorry Kynock ;) ) :D
Yer it is good, just that for that amount of money on a system you need a case that tells people it is good, no point in spending that much only to have a beige case (my opinion). And the mobo makes the difference between the components working fast or slow.
Thats all i meant. :)

Just a quick post with my latest 3D Mark 2001 SE.
Athlon XP 1700+ (No overclocking)
512Mb Generic DDR 2100 RAM
Abit KX7 333 Mobo
Ge Force 4 Ti 4200 64Mb (Creative 3D Blaster) Overclocked to 275Mhz Core 550Mhz Memory.
This wee sweeatheart ran me to 10229.
The cause....????? Direct X 9 and the new Creative 42.01 beta drivers....
I used a little know registry hack to open up some hidden options on the chipset which will allow you to OC the VGA without using PowerStrip or the like and now this machine motors under FS 2002 Pro with frame rates hitting somewhere in the region of 25-30 at 1280x1024 32bit.
If anyone wants me to send them the *.reg file then mail me at itgod@btinternet.com and I'll zip and send the reg hack....

I've found that DX9 reduces performance by about 150 - 200 3D Marks and the Det 40's give a big increase in performance but graphics aren't as smooth.
Most of u lot are all using det 30.82 apart but what kinda score r u getting using det 42.01 0r 42.30 ???
Did n e 1 used to have a GF3Ti200 if so what OC did u get from standard 128mb 175 core 200 mem ...please

I built machine for my nephew a few weeks ago for him to play games with.
AMD Athlon XP+ 2500 Barton 512K 333
2x256 PC2700 DDR
Soltek SL-75MRN-L N-Force2 Motherboard
Leadtek Geforce4 TI4200 64MB DDR
120Gb Maxtor 7200RPM HDD
Volcano7 CPU Cooler
I overclocked the CPU to 2.41 Ghz and overclocked the graphics card and some custom memory timings. I managed to get just under 14,000 3DMarks in 3DMARK2001.
I am at university at the moment so when I get home I will see if i can find a screenie.

10000 isnt impossible with the Ti4200. I managed to get on the 1024x768 resolution in the high 9000s which wasnt bad and when lowered to 800x600 can easily get over 10000.

10,000 is nothing lol
I got 14,000 at 1024x768....the default 3DMark Benchmark settings

Have to disagree with you there PJ, with my rig in sig at default clock speeds for both CPU and Card I get 9674! My card is only a 64Mb version as well.
With rig clocked to spec in sig I get 12969.
hey, i have a Creative GeForce 4 Ti4800-SE (typically a ti4400, better than a ti4200 slighly??)
i have not yet tried overclocking this baby. it ran call of duty and wolfenstein sweet at max settings so i dident bother. now i have started playing far cry and am also curious as to how far i can take this card.
i used to have a GeForce 3 Ti200 and that used to clock up to amazing speeds! around 7500 3dmark 2001!!!!
i have not benchmarked my ti4800se for a while, last time i got around 8500 out of it!!
it has a standard fan on it? do you reckon i could push it quite high?? if not i will get a bigger cooler for it?
P.S!! if your wondering why i got rid of my ti200 for a ti4800SE wots was not much better, its because i slipped across the back of my ti200 with a screwdriver!! Gutted!!! :D
I havent overclocked my newer 4200 yet but i will.
This is the score from my old TI4200 (XFX) Card
All the info about speed etc is in the info box :)

Richard, welcome to the forums.
Spending £80 on a new graphics card will introduce you to a much better gaming experience.
The results you got mean little against real games, there just a guide.
Are you going for XP64 ? If so an extra GB of RAM will help, but to be honest it's better to stick with 32 (presuming your just using this system for games?).

yea the xp 64 drivers didnt work so that plans fuked i am gonna buy another gb of ocz performance ram some time this month but i did improve the performance i got 15568 3d marks with a brand new instalation of xp pro and with oc the card to 300 core 590 mem

Richard, trust me buy a new video card and your scores will jump through the roof. It will do more for your scores with a new card then with an extra GB of RAM.
It will alse be a whole load better for the latest games :)

theres no point of buying a new vid card yet i have a AMD socket 754 botherboard and just agp i am going to wait for the new AMD 2 to come out then ill buy one of those and buy a GeForce 7900 GTX and have 3 gigs of DDR 2 ram

Why not do the smart thing and save the money up and put towards a new system? Another Gb of RAM isn't going to help that much. The graphics card you have not is fairly dated.

thats wat im gonna do im going to buy a new AMD 2 mobo and a new processor if the 4x4 is going to come out ill get quad core and 2 nvidia vidcards in SLI i dont want to spend a lot of money on a new computer untill the amd 2 motherboards come out also i dont have pci express so buying another AGP card is a waste because i want pci express.

Trust me Richard, AM2 is cool, but current high spec AGP cards are pretty darn awesome as well.
Also a new AM2 system will cost you at least a grand and if your looking at SLI as well, then your talking £1250 + 3 GBs of RAM, perhaps even £1500 +
If it was me, I'd get a 6600GT or something, enjoy better quality games now and the save up for either an AM2 system or a Conroe. Unless £1500 + comes to you in a weekly pay packet
