View Full Version : Is There Anything More Fun?
Than buying a new system or new upgrades such as processor and graphics (or even better a larger monitor) and watching a game that once crawled fly at 100fps?
James
Yes..i found this out by chance. If you take the game Magic Carpet and runn it on a 1ghz athlon the game is soo fast and blurry its unbeliveable
Kev
oh and as for fun..i cant think of anything more fu...oh wait..its a good old fcuk ( u rearange it)
I found this out when I ran Descent for the first time on my PII 266 instead of the old 66MHz DX-2. It was so smooth...
Mind you there are loads of things I want to try when I get a killer rig next year. Such as running GEISS at bsatard high resolutions, finishing a SETI unit in less than 100 hours, being able to play games such as Quake 3, B&W, Deus Ex smoothly and getting a result of 3D Mark 2001/2002, :D

i guess watching it fly at 250 fps would be good :)
I'll settle for 60, but below that I can see it slowing down. Tend to play at 640x480 with my old Voodoo 2 to keep the frame rates chugging along nicely, :)

on the lan demo machine, it played quake on very nice graphics and was kind of staying at 90, we discovered that the max fps was set to 90, so we set it to 300 and in some places it did actually reacy that!
What machines were you using?
James
If it was the silvery demo machine it only had a geforce1 in it I think.
And you got 300 fps? Thats odd and rather quick for a Geforce 1 machine!
James
I remember Graeme saying "Yeah that pc is running at 1.1ghz and its got an old gforce in it"
I just got images of an old bloke with a zimmer frame running very fast. Wonder if the two are related...

I was talking in a computing sense of the word, so if you want to have sex with your PC then I guess that is upto you, but you are one sick person.
I can think of many more fun things in the wider scheme of things than watching apps run a bit faster on a PC.
