is there a way to automatically change a users screen resolution to 1024x768 when they are using my site. I have searched on forums and it doesn't seem possible. I would like to do it with java applet/flash or similar, and only with the users permission.

By te way of you wanna check out the site its http://www.gameaccess.tk

I wouldn't have thought it possible? It would be too annoying if everybody used it :/

There is no way to do this.

You'd be better off making sure your site worked in differnt resoloutions.

Having a resolution forced on pwople would really, really annoy them. Some people still have monitors that don't support 1024*768. Changing the page size to suit the resolution is a far better option.

...come on - i said for a start that it would be with the users permission. The main reason for it is because in school we use a lot of design type software adn we need 1024x768 for it, where we noramlly run at 800x600, and properties is admin locked.
And mthe site is better in 1024x768 due to the menus and stuff.

Is there even a program a user could download???

Thanks anyway

Well a program is different. No doubt there's some intelligent person somewhere who wrote a program to manipulate the windows interface and change the resoloution.

After abit of googling I found this - http://www.8ung.at/cyberpunxnetwork/tools/resChange.html

German, but I tested it and it works, thus proving that such a program is definately possible.. It was written in Visual C++ I think.

thanks for that - the only problem is that it only gives me the options of 640x480 and 800x600. Has this been different for you, or anyone else.

No, the program is just that. I simply notified you (and anyone else reading) that such programs existed. I'm sure if you did a more in-depth googling you would find something more useful (or source code to do the same).

QuickRes lets you do this, its an official microsoft utility, it used to be supplied with powertoys, but a quick google for QuickRes will turn a download up for most Windows versions.

If your admin has locked the system down to prevent config changes then the chances are that you wont be able to install and run applications unless the admin installs them on you behalf.
