I currently have a Peugeot 106 1.1, believe it or not it boots along pretty quickly! Want to change it and get something else a bit faster. I'm thinking about:
Peugeot 106 GTi
Citreon Saxo VTS
Saxo's are common but are not too expensive and go fast! What do people think, other alternatives???
The 106 GTi is just AWESOME!
Unless you are 21+ you won't have much luck with the VTS, most insurers won't touch you or else you have to have a few grand kicking around for a years insurance.
I'd prefer the Saxo myself but the Pug would seem more realistic.

I'm 20! I would prefer the 106. :D
Think your mind is made up then :)

Get a Proton Compact GTI for the sake of originality.
They look cool and apparently go quite well too !

Oh and regarding insurance on hot hatches - if you're 19+ and have two years no-claims, insurace shouldn't be too bad (well , relatively speaking) .
It's just 17 and 18 year olds with no long term driving experience that the insurance companies really don't like, but even just two years seems to make a huge difference to your premium.
Well, two years without crashing into anything anyway :)

The Protons are FAST dont think I could afford the insurance on one of them! But I'll have a look at some quotes and see what I can come up with.
As for what car I want - I was wondering what other people would recommend too!
I saw an R32 earlier and just about exploded on the spot! Boy how I want one of those :D
But really in the more economical hot-hatch area I'd go for a Saxo before anything else.

Saxos are EVERYWHERE though, thats the only thing that kinda puts me off! The 106 GTi isnt so common! Personal choice I guess!
VTR's arent too common, same with VTS's, I've always just liked the styling of them. The Pugs do look very nice though it has to be said.
I even saw a nice looking Polo earlier - not a car most people think of modifying.

Maybe it's Cambridgeshire then cos VTRs are sooo common! VWs are expensive! But must be said the Polo GTi does boot along quite nicely :p

You don't look about enough, abe ! Saxo VT*s are everywhere in Ayr - I always wanted one until I realised that it was just going to be one of soooo many.
Being common is not always a bad thing though - the reason they're popular is because they're good little cars... not too expensive , insurance friendly and fun to drive, but having a 'unique' car always just has that little bit more appeal. Hence the Xsara on my part ;)
If you want a car thats not to common go for a 106 Rallye if you can find one but you have to keep the steel rims :).
A friend just sold his and they are great fun to drive and the engine just keeps going and going :D.

The 106 Rallye's are soo rare! Only seen a few old ones about never a new shape one! Only a 1.3 too! I'll see what I can find on Monday when I go on the BIG CAR HUNT! The Saxo's are a no no I think unless there is one that is a bargain, then I will consider it. Will let you all know what happens.

if your looking for a sporty hatchback, then get a japanese car, much better than anything from europe.
Also have you looked into insurance for gti or vts, its gonna be about 3-4 thousand a year i would recon at 20 (being 20 myself). You might wanna look at the xs peugeots or the vtr, as these are both group 8 and you'll get these for under 4 figures.
You will pay a high insurace premium for what is maybe .5 secs on your 0-60.

My insurance on my current car is £620 fully comp with 1 years no claims discount thats it. I got a quote for £850 fully comp on the Saxo VTS which is good. I think the 106 GTi will be just below that. Got to check on it.

Really, that is incredibly low for like insurance group 15+, what type of no claims do you have?
Considering getting my own car but the insurance was putting me off, thought it would be much more than that (i wont have got any no claims as i was insured on my dads car)
EDIT: read he post better jamie, you moron. You've already said 1 years no claims.
I'm suprised its so low with only 1 years no claims.

I was amazed at how cheap my current insurance cost me. I was with Tesco to begin with as they were cheaper than CIS and other places I tried. Then when my insurance was due for renewal I decided to phone Norwich Union and they quoted me just over the £600 mark. I used them again to get the quote on the VTS too. Maybe worth a look...?
I will call them on Monday and get a quote for a 106GTi and see if they "QUOTE ME HAPPY" lol :p

get a smart car....your pocket will thank you...others to consider are suzuki ignis and a hyundai coupe , 5yr warranty on the hyundai btw.
but then again you could just get a corsa or any other motor with tinted windows bonnet leds, a burd still in highschool and a steroe worth more than the car like most folks playing anything with a bass.
Think different.......

Get an EG Civic VTI, 1.6 160bhp will give anything a good race. Don't get a Saxo 1.6 VTR it only packs 90hp and I can waste one with my 1.4 90hp Almera.
Whatever you do have a look at Parkers (http://www.parkers.co.uk) reviews.

Just got back from a few garages. I think I'm going to get a NEW 106 Quicksilver. 03 plate. Comes with a lot of perks and the price is very good! MPG is good too which is another reason why! Not a 100% decision yet, but looks promising. Had a test drive and I thought it was pretty awesome! :D
 I think u should get a suzuki swift gti!!!
u can have mine for £800! :p
