Hi,

Have been chatting to Kustom on this one as-well...

My Shuttle XPC (SN41G2) has two internal USB headers.

One USB beader is already being used for the front USB ports.

The second USB header was free, which has been used for the Shuttle wireless module.

I would like to add in a Shuttle multi-card reader, but this also needs a USB header, and I don't want to disconnect any current devices.

What would be the best solution, at the moment it may be to add a PCI USB card with an internal port.

Cheers,

M

Bingo.

Alternative would be to wire a female USB header connector into two sets of pins mimmicking a male USB header. Whether this would work (i.e. Windows would detect each device seperately, I have no idea.

Does the USB wireless module use both of the USB ports then, as the Card reader uses only one. i.e. 1 row of 5 pins, leaving 5 pins spare.

You could disconnect one of the front two ports if you dont need both and run your other device off this

Thanks for the feedback.

The plan was not to disconnect any current devices. if possible, I need to keep the front USB ports.

I have noticed that the pin-outs of the USB headers can support two devices (USB0&1), so a bespoked USB header cable could be a solution.

I'm surprised that Shuttle doesn't have an option to allow for this.
I would have thought that the wireless module and another USB internal device (i.e. card reader), would be a fairly standard config.
This does not include the front USB ports, which is part of the SN41G2 package.

Ideally, an internal USB splitter cable would be the best solution.

I know you can get TINY (about 3"x3"x1"), self powered USB hubs for about £15 - you could attach on of these to the inside of your case somewhere?
