Hi Kids,

After selling some kit i've got some spare cash for a min-itx box. Mainly for storgae although going to act as a print server and divx machine.

Epia M 10000
256MB Low Profile DDR
Cubid 2699 ITX Case Black
120GB Seagate HDD
ATI Wonder Remote

Would this be powerful enough to play Divx's? Only thing it could use more of is memory however i'm skint-o-la. Well not skint just tight.

Also do you know if its possible to map a DVD drive on another machine (networked) so that i can play DVD's on it without having to get a slim drive?

Cheers
Richard

be careful about the speed of your network for this tho - it may affect picture quality.

100Mbits network is ~12mb a second.

Hmm. Well if a 2 hour movie is over 12mb a second datawise the move would take up 86Gb of disk space :p

Even @ 10Gb for a 2 hour movie it cant come in at more than 1.5Mb a second constantly as it simply wouldnt fit on a DVD.

But yeah i see what you mean. Ive got a spare hub lyin around so i will stick the mini itx on its own hub with my main machine and an uplink to the router will do fine.

Cheers
