Anyone have experience using this at all? looking at purchasing a system and transfering it to a shuttle if at all possible for use as a HTPC.

anyone able to reccomend other software if the license is not transferrable to another pc?

licence is not transeferrable..only with original hardware from licenced manufacturers.

there has been cases of modified versions illegally used although for it to work correctly you need identical internals to use cetain key parts of the software.

Its entirely possible to run MCE on any machine. My sisters eMachine with 128mb ram and a celeron 566 is running it because its the only version of windows i had lying about at the time :p

Possible yes, but like MB says, it's illegal.
