does anyone know of any sites with a guide for putting a matrix orbiyal display io a shuttle case ( in the front - not the 5 1/2" bay) or to have them in the 5 1/2" bay but so they flip out when you eject the drive, and come back up automatically when the drive retracts. (the sort of thing below BTW a VERY quick sketch)

Many thanks

Accompilsh that task and you will be a shuttle god.

I think it can be done if the matrix is very carefully wired...

Could you extend the shuttle a little and move the faceplate forward a little so you could try using the Matrix Orbiter like a sleath bezel fitted to the CD tray? Obivously you have to extend the cables or put them on some kind reel thing so that the cable doesn't get caught outside.

Would love to see it if you could make it work!

or you could move the cdrom back abit. esp with a shorter drive like a liteon.

I can't see it being to complicated to get working really, my MO display could easily be wired so it's only about 1-2cm deep...

Would look very smart though :D

How about stealthing the drive behind the orbital, so that when the tray comes out, the orbital stays on the end, like in a normal stealth? I suppose it depends on the weight of the orbital?

how would that work with cables

You could try a little reel running off the motor from the CD possbly so that when the CD goes out the reel unwinds and then when the drive is retracted the reel winds the cables back in.

Not sure, but it shouldn't be that hard to rig something to keep the cables fairly taught?

I have an idea brewing...

how about you attach a kind of "rail" to the bottom of your matrix. This would extend lightly over the length of tte CD drive tray (the bit that pops out).

If this slid in and out with the drive, it would provide extra support to the tray to account for the weight of the matrix, and wires could be run along one side of it, so that no loose wire is outside the case.

only real problems I can see are that you would have to create some kind of slide system for the rail, and to make sure that loose wires inside didn't get into any fans etc.

ah, cpu got in before me then, but his idea could work to keep the wires inside fairly neat?
