What benchmark?

What is the best FREE benchmark which will run on DX9.0b and will test the system(not just the Graphics Card)?

For the best test for stability first run 3Dmark03- this will test your graphics card and to a point your cpu/ram etc.

Then i would suggest running 3dmark2001se (with patch for dx9 compatibility) and set it to loop continously (set to looping and leave number at 1) run that for anywhere upwards of 8 hours and assume by about 4-5000 loops that your pc is fairly stable.

FINALLY
download a program called sisoft sandra and run the burn-in test on looping for as long as a day or two, if you make it through that checklist then i would say its fairly safe to say your system is stable

all the programs mentioned above can be downloaded free from either www.futuremark.com or www.sisoftware.co.uk


some of the features of these programs need to be purchased to be unlocked but the results given without these extra features are still accurate

i have also heard of something called aquamark but i have never checked it out.

if its just scores your after then running a single test on any of these programs will be adequate.

do remember that benchmarks dont always reflect correctly the system's performance and can sometimes be very inaccurate
