astra mk3 1.4 8v, when in the idol mode .. just on no gas .... the car will slightly rev it self .. or slightly lose power, at the same time this is happening the engin management light will go on and off .. also some times when i first turn it on it will come on then cut out .
any ideas people
dave
Sounds like one of the sensors could be on the way out.
If you take it to a Vauxhall garage they can just plug a handheld into it & tell you what's up.

but at least the job will be done right, and it will have a warranty too....
Sounds like idle speed control valve probs. Sometime you can clean it by removing and spraying with carb cleaner while working it. Most often tho' it needs replaced. If the management light is on for a length of time it will store a code, otherwise the Vauxhall dealer will tell you "no codes present" and still charge you about 40 squids.
More info needed,

Well, the 2 Vauxhall garages that I have used this at both did it for free, obviously hoping to then get the repair work.
It literally takes them about 10 seconds.
Usually the system only holds an error for 5 starts, so if you have run the car 5 times without the management light coming on it will have cleared from the memory.
Someone I know, had a similar problem with a Pug 106. Turns out it was the Fuel Pressure Reg.
Maybe that's an alternative solution to the problem? Worth looking at anyway.
So you've taken your car to 2 Vauxhall garages and they've both checked it. What did they say was the prob? If it's a mechanical prob that's not sensored then the Tech2 rig ain't gonna get it.
